I just had a great day of birding. I met a friend and we headed off 26 miles out dirt roads to a wind blown, rolling hills, long and short grass prairie. There was a prairie dog town with both Chestnut and McCowns Longspurs. I got some flight shots. They have this wonderful tinkiling song as they fly up and sky lark back to earth. They were all around us. I recorded them singing with the prairie dogs barking and the wind blowing. I could get a real feel for what early settlers experienced. What a day. Oh yes, it was very hot! I also got an Upland Sandpiper on a fence post and one of me at the "Rest stop". On to Theodore Roosevelt Park and a bird called an Oven Bird. Take care. Donelda
