Kentucky

I have spent the last 5 days at my friend Joy's house. They live on an arm of Lake Barkley which is part of the area in western Kentucky called Land-Between-the-Lakes. The house is a big brick house that looks out over the water and green hills. At the bottom of their yard they have a covered boat dock where their two boats are docked. It is beautiful. Joy's husband Bill is a fisherman who goes out in his bass boat every morning about 5 am and sometimes 2 more times in the day. They also have a pontoon boat that I love. You will see why when I post a picture of me in the boat. Bill had a high swivel seat installed up front for his wife, who is also a photographer, to sit on and take pictures while on the water. Wow! It is fun but requires lots of practice to get good shots. We have gone on peaceful sunset cruises around the VERY large arm of the VERY large lake and found wonderful birds and other wildlife. One lsland interested me. It is a large lsland with trees etc that in the 1960's when the "lake" was filled some goats were released or left on and their decendents are still there. They do not swim off and the ice in the winter does not suport them so they are isolated on the island. I saw a billy both times we went by. I got his picture and will post it. Coming back from a ride today my hat blew off and went in the water. Flashes of my friend's mishap with his camera flashed through my head and I held on to my camera with both hands. The hat sunk before we could get to it but I can get a new hat a lot easier than a camera. I had a chance to take my canoe out for a short paddle. Nice! Maybe I will get more chances later. I am hooked up and ready to go but there is a major thunderstorm here and it is becoming really muddy where I am parked. I will have to see what it is like in the morning. I am headed to Alabama. There is a sparrow there. Surprise! :) The storm gave me a chance to use my new weather radio. It sounds an alert if there is dangerous weather in the area. Hannah does not like the thunder and the trailer is shaking from her panting. Poor dog. Hopefully it is over soon. Take care. Donelda
