Leaving Nevada

I left Great Basin National Park early this morning. I headed east on highway 6 also called highway 50. A book I have been reading calls it the Lonsomeness Highway in the United States. I liked it early in the morning. That is when the animals are out. The lack of moisture (Nevada is the driest state in the union) makes grass in short supply. When it does rain the water runs off the road and grasses grow best at the edge of the road. The cows and Pronghorn Antelope like it there. I got pictures of some doe today. A buck ran across in front of the car. I was glad I was going fairly slow. I have been in the basin range part of the west. Nevada has 314 mt ranges (from the book) and they run north to south. Since I was going east that means up one mt range and down into the basin or valley in between and then up the next range. The roads are very straight. I could see about 20 miles ahead. I clocked it :). Anyway I finally got on interstate 15 at Nephi Utah. I then got on 80 that took me into Wyoming to where I am now. That is Laramie, Wyoming. I stopped to see Gera Spencer/Clinton a teacher that was at Bryant Ranch some years ago. I saw some birds but not anything unexpected. The land in Nevada was sand color with gray sage brush. Here it is big sky country. The green rolling hills are a strip of your view with a VERY blue sky taking up the rest of the view. There were a few white puffy clouds to add drama. Lots of interesting places to come back and see on another trip. Colorado tomorrow.
